Our acquisition of the adjoining Charter Place shopping centre in April 2013 means we’re able to take intu Watford to the next level, delivering a ‘go to’ destination from morning to evening.

Debenhams will open a 113,000 anchor store as part of the intu Watford extension project introducing even more of the top brands our customers want. With consistently high levels of customer requests for Debenhams in the town, Watford featured in the top-five list of planned new openings for the department store.

A multi-million pound investment to create a top-20 retail and leisure destination
intu Watford is a thriving shopping centre and our transformative extension project is underway to make it bigger and better.
Our £178 million investment will create an impressive 1.4 million sq ft retail and leisure destination to attract visitors from further, more often, to stay for longer. We’ll be making room for even more great retail brands and introducing top new restaurants and leisure activities, including a nine-screen IMAX Cineworld cinema to give customers a compelling shopping experience from day into evening.

Off on a big adventure
Our much loved wooden animals that were once the centrepiece of Charter Place have been getting ready for a big adventure. Since our development works commenced we’ve given the animals some time rest - we even treated them to a nice coat of varnish to make sure they looked tip top for their outing, Now they can be found at their new home at the Cha Cha Cha café in Cassiobury Park where they'll continue to be enjoyed by the community for years to come!
