intu Watford

Set within a prosperous north London commuter town, intu Watford has all the top brands. And guess what, it’s about to get even better

Anchored by John Lewis, intu Watford is the place to shop and attracts visitors from across the affluent Home Counties. Since opening its doors in the 1990’s the centre has continued to evolve and is home to quality brands, such as Apple, Kurt Geiger and Pandora, which keep customers coming back time and time again.

Our acquisition of the adjoining Charter Place shopping centre in April 2013 means we’re able to take intu Watford to the next level, delivering a ‘go to’ destination from morning to evening.

The existing footfall at the centre is really strong and the affluent catchment is perfect for our exclusive 'Designers at Debenhams' portfolio of brands

Transforming Watford

A multi-million pound investment to create a top-20 retail and leisure destination

intu Watford is a thriving shopping centre and our transformative extension project is underway to make it bigger and better.

Our £178 million investment will create an impressive 1.4 million sq ft retail and leisure destination to attract visitors from further, more often, to stay for longer. We’ll be making room for even more great retail brands and introducing top new restaurants and leisure activities, including a nine-screen IMAX Cineworld cinema to give customers a compelling shopping experience from day into evening.

We’re transforming the centre into a contemporary shopping experience providing a fantastic place to shop, eat and play. It will massively strengthen intu Watford as a destination retailers want to invest in and our visitors enjoy

A positive impact

Driving the local economy

Because customers are at the heart of what we do, we believe it’s important to invest in the communities we’re a part of to give them a place they can be proud of.

This development is about more than the physical space. It’s about the relationships we’re able to build with local people and businesses, the creation of hundreds of jobs during the build and beyond, and the broader economic benefits that additional leisure and retail provides for the town of Watford, as it becomes a top 20 retail and leisure destination, alongside Bristol and Edinburgh.

Off on a big adventure

Our much loved wooden animals that were once the centrepiece of Charter Place have been getting ready for a big adventure. Since our development works commenced we’ve given the animals some time rest - we even treated them to a nice coat of varnish to make sure they looked tip top for their outing, Now they can be found at their new home at the Cha Cha Cha café in Cassiobury Park where they'll continue to be enjoyed by the community for years to come!
