The amazing things our people do

intu is not just one of the leading retail real estate companies in the UK – it’s a people focussed business that thrives off the commitment and dedication of its 3,500 employees working across the country.

Our employees work in roles including customer services, security, asset management, project management and construction; it’s a wide and varied pool of talent.  Everyday our people are consistently pushing themselves to do more and deliver against our objectives and company values of being bold, creative and genuine. That’s why we set up an employee recognition scheme, win your dream, to reward employees that go above and beyond in their everyday roles.

Win your dream invites employees to nominate their colleagues to do just that – win their dream prize - up to the cash value of £10,000 and is a testament to just how much intu values each and every employee. In 2018 alone, we received over 1,500 win your dream nominations and awarded over 700 golden envelopes to employees throughout the year to recognise the achievements of our employees. Every quarter these nominations are judged and put forward for the quarter finals, culminating in an annual grand finale which sees 12 employees celebrated for going the extra mile, having brilliant ideas and spreading joy for both our customers and tenants.

This year at the prestigious Savoy Hotel in London, Heleana Wyatt from intu Broadmarsh in Nottingham was announced as the 2019 winner for delivering outstanding customer service to a customer in need. The result of her quick thinking, calm and reassuring assistance resulted in the birth of a beautiful, healthy little boy which she helped deliver in the first aid room of the centre.

“Neither the mother or her parents who were with her at the time were aware of the situation, but as soon as I saw her, I knew she was in labour and had to act quickly. The family and the young lady were really anxious about what was happening, so it was important that I kept calm and took control of the situation,” said Heleana.

“I am so proud of what I did that day and now it feels like I’ve won an Oscar! It’s so unexpected but I am thrilled and looking forward to a dream holiday with my friends.
