Connect and convert

Meet Andre Hordagoda and Aman Khurana, high school friends and co-founders of GoInStore, creators of live in-store video experiences for online shoppers.

In-store inspiration

GoInStore came about from a chance visit to a premium fashion retailer one morning, where Andre noticed there were more staff available than customers, and this got him thinking. At that same time, how many people were shopping this brand online? And how many of those people would have liked to have asked an experienced, knowledgeable member of staff more about a product?

After chatting to Aman and acknowledging low online conversion rates of around 1-2% versus in store conversion rates of around 20%-30%, they quickly realised the business opportunity to increase conversion rates by connecting online customers with in store staff and experience. And so GoInStore was born.

What do you hope to achieve through intu Accelerate?

We applied to intu Accelerate as we wanted to work with a market leading shopping centre owner that shares our vision; to innovate and to help change the way people shop. The retail landscape is evolving quickly and GoInStore is at the forefront of this as we aim to merge digital and physical retail experiences in new and innovative ways. So, through our partnership with intu we’re developing ground-breaking ways for shoppers to interact with shopping centres and brands.

GoInStore currently have ‘one to one’ and ‘one to many’, real-time video streaming capabilities, with one-way video and two-way audio. This allows us to help retailers provide personalised shopping experiences or broadcast to their customers on their websites, social media and within physical locations to offer a more tailored and relevant shopping experience.

By joining the intu Accelerate programme we are aligning ourselves with a retail heavyweight that has the experience and reach to propel GoInStore to a larger retail and consumer audience.

The future of retail

At GoInStore we are already revolutionising the way people browse and shop. For shoppers our technology is convenient and time-saving as they can immerse themselves in the shopping experience from the comfort of their office and home. Our tech can also be used to enhance their in store experience too, as it gives retailers the ability to broadcast from a centralised location into stores nationally or across a shopping centre itself.

GoInStore also helps retailers tap into their largest and furthest reaching shop window; their website and, at the same time leverage their channel with the highest conversion rate; their bricks and mortar locations. We therefore see live video streaming as the new wave of innovation that retailers need to implement to generate new customers and retain their existing customer base.

The beauty of GoInStore is that retailers can maximise the use and performance of their most important existing assets; their website, physical stores, their products and staff. All this with the use of cost-effective smart phones or glasses coupled with our consultancy, training and support.

GoInStore in action

Currently handcrafted designer sneaker brand Axel Arigato use GoInStore in their Soho store to reach a growing global web audience.

Albin Johansson, CEO, Axel Arigato said ‘“GoInStore users are converting at least as high as store visitors”

We also work with Dyson in Germany, where they don’t currently have demo stores. Dyson is able to use our ‘one to many’ broadcast technology to simultaneously show live product demonstrations on their website, Facebook and YouTube. These broadcasts are helping to increase conversion rates, average order values and page views.

We launched GoInStore with retailers in mind, however such has been the interest and adoption of our technology, that we already work with brands in other sectors including Porsche, Marriott International and Redrow. We've quickly become an international business beyond the UK with shoppers and companies using our technology in Germany, Canada, and the Netherlands.

This week as part of the intu Accelerate programme GoInStore will launch a series of live videos working together with intu Lakeside’s personal shopper service to deliver a ground-breaking UK retail first.

The live streams will broadcast every day this week 12:30 p.m. – 1.30 p.m. on intu.co.uk and offers a new platform for featured retailers and brands, which include Topshop, MAC, River Island, Debenhams and Toni and Guy to showcase a range of products and services including fashion, cosmetics and hair stylists. Each live stream will include different features, giving customers the all their shopping and styling tips for the Christmas season ahead, whilst driving sales for retailers.
